Yoga Begins at Bodyworks Emporium!
Bodyworks Emporium is pleased to welcome
Colleen Dwyer, RYT to instruct our new Restorative Yoga classes
Monday nights at 7pm! This class begins with a short period of
meditation and light stretching, then transitions into a blissful
90 minute restorative practice.
Appropriate for all levels and beginners
are welcome!
Why Practice Yoga?
Yoga has many benefits - physiological,
mental ans spiritual. Yoga can mean a lot of things to different
people. For some people, it is simply a class to take to get a good
stretch and a nice balanced work out. For others, it is a way of
life - we talk about being on the Yogic Path, our own hearts leading
us where we need to go. Yoga is about Union - the unity of YOURSELF
with the LIVING WORLD around you - you are part of the divine dance.
It is about releasing tension in the body and the mind, relaxing,
and bringing the mind to stillness so you can listen to your heart,
so you can learn and grow.
What is Restorative Yoga?
Some yoga poses taste a little bit sweeter
than others and if yoga were a smorgasbord, restorative postures
would most definitely be at the dessert table. These soothing and
well-supported poses offer us the opportunity to linger quietly for
a few moments and savor the simple sweetness of life.
Restorative poses have a particular ability
to leave us nourished and well rested, these postures are usually
deeply supported by blankets, blocks, or other props and are held
for several minutes at a time. The more fully your body is
supported, the deeper your sense of relaxation and surrender will
be. So please join us - your body will thank you with profound sighs
of relief!
Who is Colleen Dwyer, RYT?
Colleen has been practicing yoga as a
dedicated student for seven years, and as a teacher for two of those
years. Colleen devotes her life to "living yoga" and she has been
practicing Ayurveda under the guidance of certifited practitioners
for four years. She has developed a style all of her own, taking a
gentle approach, honoring the body, and paying detailed attention to
alignment. She creates a safe environment where she shares her kind,
soothing, accepting spirit, and obvious passion, with you. Colleen
tenderly leads you, expert or novice, using asana (postures),
pranayama (breath regulation), music, redings, candles, incense,
chanting, and meditation - back to a world, one you may have lost
touch with - a world of authentic you!
